Martin prefers losing a few points to losing an entire race

Jorge Martin finished fifth in both the Aragon Sprint and Grand Prix. His lead over Marc Marquez fell from 31 to 19 points, but he does not see the result as a return of a general Aprilia problem. He calls MotorLand one of his hardest tracks and believes he saved the maximum available.

Martin says he retained good front-end feeling and understood the bike. His main limitation was traction and grip dropping away, preventing him from building speed. In his view this was different from the lack of feedback he felt at Brno or the Sachsenring. Marco Bezzecchi, despite riding hurt, showed with the other Aprilia that a podium was possible.

The 2024 champion therefore accepts damage limitation. He believes fifth is better than crashing on a weekend when he could not match the leaders. With nine rounds remaining, that discipline protects his lead without removing the threat.

The next race must confirm that the issue was track-specific. If grip returns and the older set-up restored at Silverstone works again, Aragon will remain a bad circuit managed well. If the sliding persists, Aprilia will have to reconsider that diagnosis.
