Zarco returns after 105 days and scores in his first Sprint

Johann Zarco finished ninth in the Aragón Sprint, exactly where he started, and scored one point in his first race since his serious Catalan GP accident. After 105 days recovering from a left-knee injury, he said the crash caused no fear, although he approached the first braking zone carefully because of the track and his grid position.

The restart procedure itself had changed: grid rows are farther apart and ride-height devices were removed following the Barcelona accident. Zarco lost places early, then attacked Bagnaia and closed on Raúl Fernández before Aldeguer passed him.

The point is secondary to the physical test, but ninth in qualifying and the Sprint shows that base speed is present. Sunday’s 23 laps will reveal whether his knee and precision hold as fatigue rises.
