Ferrari will race its ADUO engine upgrade at Monza
Ferrari plans to introduce an ADUO-authorised power-unit upgrade at the Italian GP alongside Monza-specific aerodynamic parts. The FIA assessment ranks Red Bull-Ford’s combustion engine as the benchmark; Mercedes is 2% to 4% behind, while Ferrari, Audi and Honda exceed a 4% deficit over the measured period.
That ranking grants Ferrari two extra development opportunities. Motorsport.com reports that the Monza version revises the combustion chamber and turbocharger, with a projected 15-horsepower gain and new Shell fuel. That is an engineering forecast, not a guaranteed track advantage.
Monza should expose the real value quickly because long full-throttle sections reward power and efficiency. Ferrari trails Mercedes by 87 constructors’ points and has won only three of the last 19 Italian GPs. The upgrade must close a measured deficit without sacrificing reliability as the second half intensifies.
