Madring will be revised for 2027 as the VSC rule also comes under scrutiny

The first Spanish Grand Prix held at the Madring is already set to have consequences. Organisers say they are ready to alter the layout to improve overtaking in 2027 and have received recommendations from the FIA. Lando Norris has specifically pointed to Turns 18 and 19, which he believes add little before the final section of the lap.

The world champion also wants the Virtual Safety Car procedure reopened for discussion. In Madrid, pitting under VSC was worth roughly 11 seconds; Antonelli and Verstappen benefited from the neutralisation after Norris had already passed pit entry. Norris has suggested temporarily closing the pit lane or ensuring every driver gets an equivalent chance to stop. Madrid has therefore done more than introduce a new circuit: its first Grand Prix has already triggered two regulatory debates.
