MotoGP rules out Madrid and treats Adelaide as a one-off test

MotoGP deputy CEO Carlos Ezpeleta says the Madring is not suitable for motorcycles in its current form. Modifications would theoretically be possible, but run-off requirements and safety standards separate a Formula 1 street venue from an acceptable MotoGP track. Madrid is therefore not an active candidate.

Adelaide, which will replace Phillip Island in 2027, follows a different logic. The temporary venue is being designed like a conventional race circuit in the middle of a city, with significant run-off and gravel.

Ezpeleta describes it as an experiment whose execution MotoGP wants to evaluate before repeating the model. A successful Adelaide event could open a path, but it would not signal a broad shift toward street racing.
