Ferrari’s new engine confirms a gain too small to change the picture

Ferrari’s second and final permitted 2026 engine development brought an improvement at Monza, but Oliver Bearman says it is clearly smaller than the gain from Haas’s revised floor and bodywork. He qualified 12th, his best since China, and finished 15th as Haas completed a seventh straight race without points.

Fred Vasseur has been similarly cautious: the power unit improves the baseline but does not erase the pure-power deficit. Bearman estimates the aerodynamic benefit is more than two to three times the engine gain over a season.

Madrid will give Haas a better test of its floor outside Monza’s extremes, while Ferrari can assess ADUO 2 in a setting less dominated by straight-line speed. The two upgrades need to be judged separately.
