McLaren will review its racing rules after Monza

McLaren will review how Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are allowed to race after their late duel at Monza. Norris passed Piastri on lap 48, Piastri retook fourth one lap later, and Norris then put two wheels on the grass in another attempt. Andrea Stella says the incident looked worse live than it was and still believes allowing them to race was the correct call.

The issue is not banning the fight but measuring its collective cost. Verstappen gained breathing room while the two McLarens swapped positions. Stella accepts Red Bull was probably quicker, but does not rule out a different coordination giving McLaren a better chance to contest third.

Madrid now forces the team to define more clearly where freedom ends and efficiency begins.
