Madrid wipes away the reference points and resets the hierarchy

Formula 1 will race this week at the Madring, a 22-corner hybrid circuit around IFEMA combining public roads and permanent sections. Its signature La Monumental section is about 550 metres long and is expected to reach 24% banking. Carlos Sainz has already completed demonstration laps, but no driver has raced a Grand Prix there, so simulator work and Friday running will replace historical data.

After Monza, that matters. Mercedes dominated in Italy but accepts that Monza was atypical. Close walls, technical sequences and temperatures around 30°C shift the compromise toward downforce, cooling and driver confidence.

Kimi Antonelli arrives 66 points ahead of George Russell. Friday’s long runs should provide the first reliable competitive order of the weekend.
