Ferrari improves, but Hamilton still sees six tenths lost on the straights

Lewis Hamilton says Ferrari’s upgraded power unit is a step forward but estimates he lost around six tenths to Russell in the straight-line sections alone. Ferrari led FP1 and Leclerc split Russell and Antonelli in FP2, showing the SF-26 is closer without erasing every weakness.

Ferrari still has to separate the effects of electrical deployment, drag and the power unit. Motorsport.com’s sector analysis had Mercedes stronger in the first two sectors and Ferrari recovering nearly two tenths in the final sector. Setup choice will be central: enough downforce for braking and traction without becoming too vulnerable in the tow.
