Antonelli and Albon are sent to the back of the grid
Kimi Antonelli and Alex Albon will start from the back at Monza unless further penalties alter the order. Mercedes fitted Antonelli with a fifth ICE, fourth control electronics and fourth energy store, a theoretical 30-place drop. Williams fitted Albon with a fifth ICE and fourth control electronics, worth 20 places. More than 15 cumulative places means a back-of-grid start.
Antonelli focused Friday on long runs and traffic and was third in FP2, 0.141s behind Russell. With a 59-point championship lead, limiting losses matters more than qualifying position. Albon only drove FP2 after Luke Browning used his car in the morning and finished 16th.
