Yamaha and Quartararo now expose their split in public
The disagreement between Fabio Quartararo and Yamaha has escalated after Aragon. Quartararo says he will stop trying large numbers of parts and does not want to develop the 2027 bike for successors after Yamaha chose not to put him in the Red Bull Ring Pirelli test reserved for riders in its 2027 project. Yamaha’s management is now answering publicly.
Paolo Pavesio says Quartararo lacks objectivity when he criticises Yamaha both for not developing and for asking him to test too many components. Massimo Meregalli says departing riders at other manufacturers are in comparable situations and asks Quartararo to follow Jack Miller’s attitude.
The contracts do not change: Quartararo joins Honda in 2027 and nine grands prix remain. The dispute nevertheless weakens the cooperation needed to finish 2026 and sharpens the line between work useful now and development aimed at a future he will not share.
