Piastri searches for one cause behind problems that keep changing

Oscar Piastri reaches Monza with a problem more complex than one bad set-up. At Zandvoort he finished 32 seconds behind Lando Norris despite being much closer in qualifying, and he has not won for a year while Norris has just taken Hungary and the Netherlands.

Piastri says the difficulty never appears in exactly the same form, raising a broader question about his adaptation to the 2026 cars and tyres. McLaren has ideas involving both driving style and set-up, but no single cause. Reliability and bad luck have contributed without explaining the full pace gap.

Monza offers another comparison in a very different environment. Matching Norris again would support a circuit-dependent explanation; another large deficit would make a broader 2026 adaptation problem harder to dismiss.
