Haas delays its driver choice as the points dry up
Haas is in no rush to confirm its 2027 pairing. Ayao Komatsu first wants to help Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon return to more consistent form, while neither seat has officially been assigned for next season. That wait keeps options open but is not, by itself, a decision against either incumbent.
The sporting context explains the caution. Bearman delivered fifth place in China early in the year, but Haas has now gone six rounds without a point and suffered a double retirement at Zandvoort. Several midfield rivals have developed their cars more effectively over the same period.
The driver decision will therefore depend on both the form recovered over the next races and the alternatives available. Before treating Haas's silence as a transfer signal, an official team announcement is required; the current fact is simply that Komatsu refuses to set a timetable under pressure.
