Alpine locks in Colapinto and chooses continuity for 2027
Alpine has extended Franco Colapinto's contract and will keep its current pairing with Pierre Gasly in 2027; Gasly is already signed through the end of 2028. The decision closes one of the seats still under discussion and stabilises a team sitting sixth in the constructors' championship.
Colapinto has scored 19 points across the six Grands Prix he has contested this season. That return, after a more uncertain start to his Alpine spell, mattered more than chasing another gamble. The Argentine now knows the organisation, the Mercedes power unit and Gasly's working methods, allowing the team to avoid another integration while trying to close the gap to the front.
The extension does not prove Alpine has solved its performance limits. It shows management believes the driver pairing is strong enough to shift resources toward the car. The next measure will be whether Colapinto can turn his recent progress into regular points rather than a few isolated results.
