Browning replaces Albon in opening practice at Monza

Luke Browning will drive Alex Albon’s Williams in FP1 at Monza. It will be his second completed session of 2026: an electrical problem kept him in the garage in Barcelona, before he finished 18th in Austria, three tenths behind Albon.

The outing fulfils the rule requiring every full-time driver to give up two practice sessions to a rookie. It also supports Browning’s simulator-to-track correlation work as Williams reserve and a Super Formula driver. For Albon, the cost is one hour less preparation on a highly specific circuit where low-drag set-up comparisons are particularly valuable.
