Leclerc set for Baku engine penalty despite recoverable ADUO2

X-ray checks on the engine Charles Leclerc used in his Monza crash found no major anomaly. Ferrari should therefore reuse that ADUO2 during Baku practice, but only as a rotation engine. For the rest of the weekend, Motorsport.com reports that a fifth new ADUO2 is expected to be fitted before qualifying.

That would trigger a grid penalty. Ferrari appears to have chosen Baku because its very long straight offers more recovery opportunities. Fred Vasseur himself said after Madrid that Baku could be a suitable place to take the penalty. The move has not yet been confirmed on an FIA technical document, so it remains conditional until official confirmation.
