Moreira puts Honda’s 850cc bike on top of the 2027 test

A new piece of information has emerged from the Pirelli test covered yesterday: Motorsport.com has obtained unofficial lap times. Diogo Moreira reportedly set the fastest time at 1:28.4 on the new 850cc Honda RC214V with a soft rear tyre, ahead of Pedro Acosta at 1:28.8 on the 850cc KTM and Johann Zarco at around 1:29.0 on another Honda.

The number stands out because Moreira’s time is around one second faster than Acosta’s best race lap on Sunday. But the comparison requires caution: this was a test, with soft Pirellis, different conditions and no official classification published by the championship. It therefore does not prove that the 850cc bikes will already be faster than the current MotoGP machines.

The most interesting signal concerns Honda: two RC214Vs would be inside the top three unofficial times. Thirteen of the eighteen riders used an 850cc prototype, while Viñales, on an adapted 1000cc KTM, was reportedly the fastest rider remaining on the current engine capacity at 1:29.2.
