McLaren heads to Baku with new upgrades and the return of the H-Wing

McLaren will bring new aerodynamic updates to Baku and reintroduce its H-Wing, the rotating rear wing raced at Monza before being parked in Madrid. The system reduces drag on the straights and is better suited to Azerbaijan’s layout, with its very long full-throttle section and major braking zones.

The team will evaluate the new parts in practice before deciding what to retain for qualifying and the race. Baku will also act as a checkpoint for the MCL40’s development path: McLaren still wants to extract more performance in 2026, but must decide how far to push the programme without compromising its 2027 project.
