Pirelli completes its final major MotoGP test before the 2027 switch

Eighteen riders took part at the Red Bull Ring on Monday in the second and final in-season Pirelli test open to full-time riders before MotoGP switches to the Italian tyres in 2027. All five manufacturers were represented, with a mix of 850cc prototypes and adapted 1000cc bikes, alongside rookies and riders leaving the class at the end of the year.

The test was held behind closed doors, with no official timing or public classification. Pirelli nevertheless reported broadly positive feedback, particularly on grip and stability, after offering several slick specifications. The next collective step will bring the 2027 grid together at Valencia in machinery much closer to the final configuration for the new technical era.
