KTM blocked the single-bike idea and prefers a cost cap

KTM says it was completely opposed to a proposal that would have limited MotoGP riders to a single bike in certain sessions from 2027. The manufacturer believes a crash or technical problem could have left a rider sidelined for too long and directly harmed the show.

KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister instead supports the idea of a Formula 1-style cost cap. He believes a properly designed system could reduce spending disparities without affecting what fans see on track. MotoGP is already studying that possibility for the future.

KTM also suggests finding savings in areas invisible to spectators. Neumeister cites the idea of a common sustainable-fuel supplier rather than requiring every manufacturer to develop its own solution. At this stage it is only a proposal, not an adopted rule change.
