Aston Martin locks in Alonso and Stroll for 2027

Aston Martin has officially confirmed that Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will remain its drivers in 2027. The pair will therefore begin a fifth season as team-mates after extending their commitments to the British squad.

Alonso’s continuation was the less certain part of the picture. Aston Martin currently sits 10th in the constructors’ championship and the two-time world champion took his time before deciding to continue. He ultimately says he still believes in the project built around Adrian Newey, Honda and Silverstone’s new facilities.

With 644 Grand Prix starts between them, Alonso and Stroll will again form the most experienced pairing on the grid. The confirmation also narrows the 2027 driver market: according to F1.com, only four seats now remain unconfirmed, mainly at Haas and Racing Bulls.
