Martín stretches his lead to twelve points before the Asian tour

Jorge Martín leaves Austria on 306 points, compared with 294 for Marc Márquez. His advantage was only three points after winning the Sprint: second place on Sunday, combined with Márquez finishing fifth, therefore adds another nine points to his margin and sends him to Motegi twelve points clear.

Martín did not have the fastest bike over the full distance. Acosta passed him on lap nine, and the Aprilia then struggled more with the rear tyre. The 2024 champion nevertheless protected second place from Marco Bezzecchi and turned a weekend in which he won only the Sprint into a very strong points haul.

Bezzecchi remains third in the championship on 264 points, 42 behind Martín. Austria has not created a decisive gap, but it clearly puts Martín back in front before the overseas run, where one mistake can once again reverse the standings.
