Alpine puts Mike Elliott in charge of its technical operation
Alpine has appointed Mike Elliott as Chief Technical Officer and given him oversight of the technical and engineering functions at Enstone. The Briton returns to Formula 1 after leaving Mercedes at the end of 2023. His 23-year career has taken him from McLaren to Renault and then Mercedes, where he served as Head of Aerodynamics, Technology Director, Technical Director and finally Chief Technical Officer.
Alpine highlights his contribution to eight constructors’ and eight drivers’ championships across his career. The appointment adds cross-functional authority to an organisation trying to consolidate its progress and close the gap to the top four teams. The effect will not be measured at Baku: Enstone’s organisation, development quality and the 2027 car will show whether the hire changes the trajectory.
