Yamaha admits a ‘cooler’ relationship with Quartararo but promises full support to the end
Massimo Meregalli admits the relationship between Yamaha and Fabio Quartararo has become ‘a little cooler’ as their split approaches. The Frenchman will leave the team at the end of the season to join Honda in 2027.
Tension peaked after Aragón, when Quartararo publicly voiced his frustration and said he lacked motivation to contribute to Yamaha’s 2027 development. The manufacturer’s refusal to let him test Pirelli tyres at the Red Bull Ring was among his complaints. Yamaha and the rider later held talks to calm the situation.
Meregalli nevertheless insists Yamaha will not reduce its technical support: Quartararo will continue to receive every available upgrade until his final Grand Prix with the brand. The atmosphere has changed, but the team wants to prevent the separation from affecting the end of the season.
