Honda reveals it has already used its second engine development allowance on the turbo

Honda had previously suggested it would use its second engine development lever only once. HRC president Koji Watanabe has now revealed that both ADUO opportunities have already been used this season.

The second change concerns the turbo. It was introduced as early as the Spanish Grand Prix on Lance Stroll’s car to reduce the turbo lag seen with the Spec 2 package introduced earlier. Fernando Alonso then received the same specification in Baku.

Honda therefore has no further ADUO hardware upgrade available for the rest of 2026. Watanabe nevertheless believes the power unit is still not being used to its full potential: the focus will now shift more toward operation and exploitation than new parts.
