Norris withdraws his call for a suspension and apologises to Colapinto

Lando Norris has walked back his very strong comments after the Baku crash. Immediately after the race, the McLaren driver said Franco Colapinto deserved at least a one-race suspension after the incident that eliminated Colapinto, Gasly and Norris.

Norris now says he has reviewed the footage and messaged Colapinto directly to apologise for his comments. He withdraws his call for a suspension and admits he reacted out of frustration after retiring from the race.

The sporting penalty does not change: Colapinto keeps his five-place grid penalty for Sepang, imposed by the stewards after Baku. The only new development is Norris’s public position.
