Haas scores with both cars despite finishing the race on mediums

Esteban Ocon eighth, Oliver Bearman ninth: Haas secures its first double points finish of the season. Both drivers used the first Safety Car period to replace their soft tyres with mediums, then gained places in the restart incidents. The team scores six points and takes its total to 27.

But the result is not only down to retirements ahead. Ocon says he regained more effective front-end performance after the pit stop, allowing him to attack with greater confidence. Bearman highlights the difficulty of defending on mediums against rivals on softs in the final part of the race.

Ocon ultimately loses seventh place to Lindblad on the line by 30 thousandths of a second. Haas nevertheless keeps both cars in the points and finally turns an eventful race into a collective result. The progress is as much about execution — the stop, adjustments and defending positions — as it is about the finishing order.
